Other new tenants include 7-Eleven, Anna's Linens, Ashley Stewart, AT&T, Chick-fil-A, DEB Shops, Diamond Expressions, Dots, Downtown Locker Room, dressbarn, Firehouse Subs, Five Below, Floor to Ceiling, Freemans, GameStop, Great Clips, Kay Jewelers, Lee Spa Nails, Lim's Menswear, LongHorn Steakhouse, Mattress Warehouse, McDonald's, Payless ShoeSource, Pure Vision 20/20, Qdoba, Red 88 Buffet, Rack Room Shoes, Rainbow, Shoe City, T.G.I. Wow thats alot of shops. why doesn't it say Petsmart or Target or Fridays? I know for sure those are over there. When was the last time you updated your website? Either way this mall is going to be so much fun. Well you know besides the fact that you pushed innocent animals off their land to bulid a mall with the same stores everywhere else. So what if people see a deer going accross Airport drive. It doesn't matter If 10 deer are waiting to cross ON A HIGHWAY. Even if you see a flock of 100 birds OR MORE flying over a bridge over a highway looking for a tree to house and protect their family. Oh yeah this mall is going to be a joy!

Hey, everyone! We just visited the new mall. It is fantastic! As for the movie theatre, Highland Springs has one and they show movies and performances every weekend. They renovated it and from what I hear, it is like going back into the nineteen thirties. I know you guys want a "movie-plex" but, this is better than nothing, for now!

After reading some of the pros and cons about White Oak, I had my doubts. I decided to see for myself. I drove out there, and was IMPRESSED. Very nice! Very crowded! I hope Richmond supports this project, and it does well.

I believe this new mall is a wonderful development to our community and I feel blessed to live nearby, would love to see a movie theater and walmart also, maybe where Gardenridge use to be. Please no gentleman's club that would not be a postive element in our community.I'm not supporting that idea . I agree with Justin and, and disagree with Saturn change your profession plenty of new jobs available at the mall don't need a gentlemans club.

MY ONLY CONCERN IS THAT TRANSPORTATION PICKS UP IN THIS AREA. WITH GAS BEING SO HIGH AND THE BUSES ARE NOT RUNNING LATE. THIS NEW MALL NEEDS TO BE MORE ACCESSABLE TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. IT'S TRUE A LOT OF JOBS WERE OPEN BECAUSE OF THIS MALL BUT IT DOESN'T DO PEOPLE WHO CAN'T GET THERE ANY GOOD IF IT'S NOT ACCESSABLE.THE BUSES NEED TO RUN LATER AND ON WEEKENDS.

It is amazing to here people talk bad about this project and the area in particular. I am from Richmond and one of the things that have always hurt this area is how negative minded people are. Here is a chance to improve this area of town by providing some quality stores. Who cares if it is not catered to the so called upper scaled income. This is a reqular mall for regular people.Furthermore Fairfield Commons is a failure because it is old and outdated and the owners have done litte up until recently to develop its potential. Most people who help support other malls live in this area.I say cudos to the developers of this mall to the vision and insight to move forward on a much needed shopping venue.I love Richmond but as I said unfortunately we are conditioned to be negative and think small and are not as progressive as we need to be.That is why other areas pass us by.Change is usually a good thing.

Look most of all you people are complaining about the stores that are coming. I am happy to see whatever stores they decide to put there. Look at it this way at first we had nothing and had to travel to get to the stores that they are putting thereThey can put a dollar general there and I will still be happy because it would still save gas. I been living in the eastend for 10 years I loved it then and I love it now. I thank God for this project because all the teens that we have in this area it will help them stay out the streets and get a job. My son is 18 and I am taking care of him and his child while he is still attending school, but rest to sure I am gonna to him to every shop that they have going out there until someone says your hired. I don't feel that this is a low income area. I feel this way the area don't have nothing to do with what you have in your pocket. They are building in this area that start at 250 to 350 thousand so to say this aera is low income I don't see it.My hats off to all the stores taht are coming because I will be shopping there no matter what is out there because I love to shop.New mall I will see you soon.

I am happy with the new shopping center coming to the east end. I'ts not the best, but a start. I travel to Lowe's a lot (Broad Street & Hanover locations) and that's a long distance especially when gas is so expensive. Just give it some time and maybe we will get the book store, movie theater and gym. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the finer things in life too.

"i wish we could get a walmart, starbucks, american family fitness, childrens place, old navy, nordstrom, macy's, movie theatre, pier one, crate& barrell, pottery barn,"

There isn't enough money in the East End. The per capita income is insufficient to support that type of retail. Might want to drive to the West End for that stuff.

I agree with many comments on this post about the quality of stores coming to White Oak Village. Most importantly, I think key stores to promote and support healthy and stable families are missing: major Bookstore (Barnes & Noble or Borders) to increase literacy rates and encourage the love of reading for Eastern Henrico students; health/fitness center (Am Fam or Ballys) to decrease the adult and juvenile obesity, diabetes and other health indicators; and quality/affordable name brand retailers (not Dots and Rainbow) like Old Navy, TJ Maxx and Marshalls; healthy eatery options (not the quick and easy fried food options like Chick-fil-A and McDonalds). I too am disappointed but someone please tell me who I can contact and what I can do to see that the remaining retail tenants reflect the kind of lifestyle that is deserved by all Henrico residents, not just in the far far west end/short pump. I think there is so much potential for this 900,000 sq ft and it's shameful that we are getting second rate at best. Is anyone else willing to hold a rally or peaceful demonstration against the Grand Opening in an effort to agitate the powers at be to do something? Is anyone else outraged? I am not asking for Nordstroms and to replicate Short Pump or StonyPoint. I am just asking to have the same amenities that our neighbors in working class Mechanicsville, VCC, Hull Street/Midlothian corridors have. If you are with me, email me at whiteoak.reform@gmail.com Thanks for letting me vent.

Richmond.com Article Feedback - Leave your comment today!

While I agree that White Oak is a blessing for the East End, it will NEVER surpass Short Pump or VCC. The area cannot support upscale retail, and I doubt anyone from any other areas in Greater Richmond will come to the East End to support White Oak. Look at Fairfield Commons. Who supports that? "Outsiders" are generally unwelcome, and most Richmonders know that.

Hi,
This comment is for BL this was the comment he made ""Why so many lower quality stores? I was encouraged when I found out that there was going to be a new mall until I took a drive out there."" . Hellllo No offense to anybody when the read this but were not at "Short Pump" or "Stony Point". We can't afford all the over priced high end stores. This is the east end of Henrico. I think it is great idea to build this mall! What they are putting out here is affordable for most residents. Will also make it a shorter trip for people so they don't have to drive to VCC.If your so upset about the "low quality stores" THEN GO TO SHORT PUMP OR STONY POINT!

Richmond.com Article Feedback - Leave your comment today!

I see that I made few errors in my comment I do apologize for that, but I hope that you can understand what I am saying, I was just really trying to point out that if we stood together as one that we could make this work and happen and show the retail world that the east end of Henrico Co. is a nice place to work and to make a successful business. Again I do apologize for my errors and grammer mistakes. But let make this work.

Richmond.com Article Feedback - Leave your comment today!

Well I am so sick of the complaining about how it going to just be another victim of the ghetto, it would be if all of us east end residents, just got together and force the ghetto out of the east end, but I got news for everyone else, that is everywhere crime is everywhere you step these days, but if people just took more stand for what they believe in and what they wanted, then I believe we can all make this happen, and I hope we do, I thank the good lord for blessing me with my favorites stores of Target, Circuit City, Petsmart and even a Gamestop and yes a Lowe's as well, and if we can keep the crime out and the ghetto and riff raff out of it causing it harm, then I can say we will being seeing a bigger boost in shopping in the east, we still the movie theater as I do agree upon, a WalMart as well, We also need a Michael's or Ben Franklin which would do go in the old Garden Ridge Building if it not being used for other things, which I heard the rumor of it being a future spot for Home Depot, but I dunno about that, but I also think we need a Partycity here we need a place to buy party supplies and balloons, cause driving all the way over the other side of town back to here the balloons have like popped because they can't stand the heat, and all that and we also need like a Toys R Us as well. I doubt we get a Victoria Secret or a place like Hooters, just cause of the class of that, I would like to see them come but I just doubt it, but if we just work together we can make this be the best thing to happen to us and quite awhile, Thanks!

I am glad to have this mall coming to my side of town. It's a much needed boost to eastern Henrico. There are several stores that I would be happy to support in my own neighborhood rather than having to drive elsewhere. It would be nice to have an Old Navy. And, the old Garden Ridge area would be a great spot for a movie theater if its not already set to be used for something else.

If we push to get the stores that we want, we will surpass Short Pump and VCC. We have to say what we want so that prospective businesses will know that we want them in Varina. However, I do agree with Dale Lewis; in order to get what we want, we will have to support the shops that are currently slated to come. Knowing that the east end has patronizing shoppers that give our business to the new merchants coming on board should prompt other popular names to get on the band wagon ASAP! The east enders are anxiously waiting for them to come.

I recently purchased a home in the area and I am very excited about having a mall nearby versus having to drive to Regency, VCC or Short Pump. I hope they add other stores for young adults such as Forever 21, Gap, Areopostale, Nine West, Aldo, Express and Victoria Secrets to name a few. If stores are not added to attract a variety a interests, we still will have to travel to the abovementioned places thus continuing to take our money out of our community.

I think this mall is great for the East End. Having lived in Varina for 40+ years and not having anything around this will be good. All of you that are complaining about what stores are going to be there, think about this. All of these other stores will be watching the mall and if we don't support it we won't be seeing anymore. Short Pump and all of the other places did not all come at once. Look at Mechanicsville . They built in stages and still growing. Give it time. Now Iv'e heard that a movie place may be located in the area that will be built behind the mall on Oakly's Lane. Another development is planned on at 295 near the YMCA. Also Walmart is looking at the land across from Nabisco. Things are coming just give it time. They're waiting to see how this does. As far as Employment goes, Sam's is taking applications in the shopping center where A&N was. Best Buy is in Wyndham Hotel.

I think it's great the Eastern Henrico is finally getting a mall worth going to. In order to get some of the requested stores how about going to the "powers that be" at those stores and suggest they open places in the new mall. Who knows that could get the ball rolling to adding some of the stores listed above. I know that Target has already begun the hiring process as their ad has been in the Sunday classified section for about two weeks now.

Richmond.com Article Feedback - Leave your comment today!

This is very exciting! I too would l ike to see a movie theater, stores from the westend, starbucks, American Family Fitness, etc. Also because we do have families, lets have a book store, craft places, and please bring us a Khols. And bring some stores that cater to larger sized men, women and kids...a Toys R Us would be great. Why don't we all write to our county officials and make the request that are here on this blog. http://www.co.henrico.va.us/supervisors/
Let's let them know that we want to see more intentional development and options up and down laburnum to finally build a nice community where we can spend our money in our own community. A "wild wings" would be nice too so we can all hang our after work and network. Let's push to be able to come home, run errands, and enjoy life in our own community and not waste gas heading west to short pump. There is a lot of room in Henrico.

Richmond.com Article Feedback - Leave your comment today!

Looking at the list of stores not muh there as far as the smaller stores go. I will shop Ukrops's Lowes and Target which are all nice to have in the eastend. But where are the stores like Short Pump has. I will still have to g
