Wal-Mart, Schmal-Mart -- don’t do it to yourself or your loved ones. Do you really want to buy cheap crap made in China for your family and friends this Christmas?
Of course you don’t, but you can't think of any other good options. This weekend you have no excuses. The Visual Arts Center, dedicated to helping people learn how to make things, is holding its 44th Annual Craft and Design Show.
If you have never been to one of their shows, stop dawdling. You will find a staggering display of quality, handmade items from jewelry to furniture and everything in between made by artisans who don't want you to sacrifice good taste for saving a few coins.
There will be more than 73 vendors on hand with their wares. As each vendor survived a rigorous jury process, you can be ensured this ain't schmaltz-mart. The event lasts three days, starting on Friday night and is being held this year at the Science Museum of Virginia. All the deets are right here.
