VISIT.RICHMOND.COM WINS AWARDS
Richmond, VA - Visit.Richmond.com, Richmond’s Official Tourist site, has won two awards for Web site development and design. Visit.Richmond.com was created and is hosted by Richmond.com, the area’s premier online portal.
The Web site was honored by two well-known organizations – the Virginia Press Women’s Association, a chapter of the National Press Women’s Association, and PRSA Richmond, the local branch of PRSA (Public Relations Society of America.)
The first announcement came from Virginia Press Women’s Association who awarded Visit.Richmond.com 1st place for Web site development and creation. As a 1st place award recipient, the site is automatically submitted to the National Press Women’s Association competition.
The second award was presented by PRSA Richmond which bestowed a Bronze Certificate of Merit for Web Sites.
Recognizing a shortcut to a broader online audience and the potential for quality content, The Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau established a partnership with Richmond.com in 2002 and the original Visit.Richmond.com was born.
In late 2004, the site needed to be updated. That update became a complete makeover. Over the next 14 months, the two organizations worked together to bring their new vision to life for the site.
Launched on January 5th, 2006, the new Visit.Richmond.com features easier navigation, more information, greater interactivity and more efficient tracking of visitors to the site. Visit.Richmond.com provides market-specific information to consumers, meeting planners, tour operators, travel media and the local travel community.
In addition, expanded sections give RMCVB the opportunity to better improve communications with various audiences as well as add content about new RMCVB programs and initiatives.
More interactive features, such as video and the ability to send an e-postcard, have also been incorporated. And most importantly, by rebuilding the site, there is more thorough tracking which helps RMCVB to determine where visitors are spending the greatest amount of time and, therefore, what is most appealing to them.
Partnering with local business organizations, Richmond.com has proven it reflects the personality and interests of the Richmond marketplace under the most recognizable, intuitive web address in the city. Richmond.com...Reflecting Richmond.
