I honestly can't remember the last time I went to Kings Dominion.

It's not that I don't like theme parks, roller coasters or that deliciously greasy fried food (think funnel cake) that you can only get at places such as a theme park. In fact – I love everything about a theme park. I just haven't been to one in a while.

Today – that all changed. I decided to not be a stooge like the rest of the editorial team, and make my way out to Kings Dominion for Media Day.

At first, I'll admit, I wasn't too thrilled with the idea that the only rides open were the Berserker and "Eiffel Tower," but whatever. It was a free few hours away from the office – I still have the same amount of vacation time I left here with yesterday – YES.

I had heard about this new roller coaster, The Dominator. Nothing specific; only something about it being fast and big. That's about it.

We arrived to a group of reporters – and let me just digress for one minute. As much as I'm sure KD appreciates the press, these people who work the aforementioned "media days," must really hate us. Not only do we come in with our laundry list of questions, huge cameras and attitudes that "we are," "no we are" the most important media outlet in attendence…we get to do this all for free.

We dirty up your place…for free. We eat your food…for free. We make your caricature men draw ridiculous pictures of us (which are usually $20 a pop)…for free. What a bunch of free-loading…you get the idea.

But back to the coaster – Pat Jones, Vice President and General Manager of Kings Dominion insisted on "bringing her baby girl into the world" with the help of all of us. So we let her. Don't judge.

Honestly, this ride was wicked awesome. And I don't use a cliché, out-of-date term like "wicked" to describe something very often. OK, ever. But it was wicked.

A 161-foot tall lift hill, 157-foot drop, record breaking vertical loop at 135 feet tall, five total inversions – it has it all. And there is no other way to experience this ride other than in the front seat. I don't care what all you back-riding fools say – you're wrong.

I forgot to mention that our other office non-stooge, Christie Newman, and her boyfriend accompanied me to Media Day. Yes – the woman who cries before getting on a roller coaster – that was my partner.

After all was said in done…we stopped in to purchase a photograph of us "dominating" The Dominator. Wait, did I say purchase? I meant take because that was also free. Posted above, I believe, is the picture taken right before we decent into a second round of inversions. Sorry Christie!

Seriously though, Richmond, we have a great playground right in our back yard, and after what I got to do for a whole four hours of "work" today, I'd say take a day and hit up Kings Dominion; especially The Dominator.

You'll definitely see me there – laughing because I got to do that for free…and you'll be waiting in a two-hour line.

Kings Dominion is no longer owned by Paramount. They are now owned by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. Just thought you should know that.
